Update: Captain America: The Winter Soldier* is one of the best action movies ever, let alone a comic book film.
It has company now.
*a correction to an early post. Civil War was alright, but I truly meant The Winter Soldier.
...I was too fired up last night from the experience

Isolated absolute monarchy with violence-based line of succession, closed off to the outside world, and sitting on a huge deposit of weapons-grade minerals, huh?*
*I’ve only seen the trailer and don’t read comic books

Yeah but they’re all black and have gone way past cyberpunk so they get a pass. /s
(If I made the same take as you I’d have been greyed out.)

Judging by the destruction wrought on NYC, a hermit kingdom with weapons of mass destruction is the least of this universe’s problems

If your going for best story line, Captain America: Winter Soldier
Best overall Marvel: Thor Ragnarock

I realized that this morning and have corrected my error. Was way too excited. Didn’t fall asleep until 1 am.
Oh, and Ragnorok is the most FUN movie. But I feel where you are coming from.

Still hold that Iron Man 3 is the best of the Marvel movies. It’s one of the few where it genuinely feels like the hero is actually both vulnerable and genuinely fallible, and living on their wits rather than just relying on the fact that if they get punched their super-ness will protect them.
Something to do with the scale really works too. They’re not routinely mashing skyscrapers with little backlash. It’s small, human, relatable, yet still hard-hitting.
Saying that, I do very much enjoy the Thor branch. Definitely great fun movies :)

Ah ok, I was wondering if that was the case. Civil War was good but had a few things missing.
And yeah kind of what I was going for, maybe not stated right with Ragnarok. Decent Hero story line and overall a fun action movie. Why you see Marvel movies

Just like I see DC films: my inner child is still alive.
Although I gave up on Star Wars after Ep 1-3. I’m glad that fans love the new ones, but I was ready to move on.

The 3 hour “ultimate edition” is an infinitely better film. Not only is it more layered and cohesive, but the movie flies by quicker than the 2h30m theatrical version.

Saw this yesterday. I thought it was absolutely fantastic. By far, one of the best in the MCU. Beautiful to look at, beautiful to listen to, compelling story (another guy with a flawed father). Great film.
